Our bluebirds marked Mothers Day with the beginning of a new clutch of eggs.
Nest building began May 6 and egg number one ...
The nesting attempt summary is this: First egg, March 24; total eggs, three; first hatched April 11; total hatched, two; ...
The groundhog may have said winter has 6 weeks left, but the bluebirds behind my house today are, as Walt Disney taught Bambi, "twitterpated" today.
The past two days the birds have been busy chasing, wing-waving and making regular visits to the bluebird box.
Nest-building, and the first chicks of spring, can't be far behind.
Last year this next site had a nest on Feb. 28 and the first birds hatched March 30.
We'll see what happens this season.
