Tulsa is now among the schools being rumored for a possible move to the Mountain West Conference.

ESPN reported Monday that sources indicate Tulsa and UTEP from Conference USA may be targeted for possible Mountain West expansion.

ESPN reported Monday that Boise State now plans to back out of plans to leave the Mountain West for the Big East. In addition, it is expected San Diego State will also stay in the Mountain West.

SMU and Houston, scheduled to leave Conference USA for the Big East, are now rumored to be considering a move to the Mountain West.

Tulsa and UTEP have been among the six schools that were staying with Conference USA as six members announced they were leaving for the Big East.

Tulsa officials have remained pretty quiet about any conference realignment plans for the Golden Hurricane.

However, the Mountain West has been mentioned repeatedly over the past year as a possible relocation spot for the Golden Hurricane.

Most rumors linked any move by Tulsa to the Mountain West as a package deal with UTEP.

A move to the Mountain West for Tulsa would put the Golden Hurricane back in a league with many former WAC members. TU joined a 16-team WAC in the mid-1990s. That league started falling apart when eight teams left the WAC to form the Mountain West.

If this all sounds confusing, it is because it is confusing.

Stay tuned. This changes by the day. Or, the hour.
