How does one turn down the opportunity to play a sentient, gun-totting space raccoon? If you're Bradley Cooper, you don't.
Marvel has announced that they have signed Cooper to be the voice of the small, furry space-ship captain who joins forces with a team of aliens from across the cosmos tasked with stopping intergalactic threats.
Rocket Raccoon was introduced in the mid-seventies when things like a gun-totting talking raccoon made perfect sense. He is a ship captain, brilliant tactician, and an excellent marksman(er..marksraccoon?), and is one of the most respected members of a team that also includes a tree. So I guess he won't stand out
that much.
Bradley Cooper is an Oscar® nominated actor who hit it big with a break-out performance in "The Hangover," and its sequels. Most recently, he's garnered a lot of praise for his turn as the slightly mentally unstable Pat Solitano in last year's "Silver Linings Playbook" opposite Jennifer Lawrence.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" is scheduled to be released on August 1, 2014.
