Karyn Lee Maio, who starred with Tom Berenson in Broken Arrow Community Playhouse's production of "The Gin Game," won the best actress award at the sixth Festival International de théatre de Mont-Laurier in Quebec, Canada.

Berenson was one of the three finalists for the best actor award at the festival, held Sept. 5-11.

The play's director Martha Daniels Cherbini posted these results on her Facebook page Wednesday evening.

"The Gin Game" was the only U.S. entry in this festival, which featured productions from France, Brazil, Romania, Italy, Germany, Morroco Switzerland and China, as well as Canada. "The Gin Game" was also the only production to be presented twice during the course of the festival.

Broken Arrow Community Playhouse premiered this production of D. L. Coburn's tragicomedy in 2009. It later took top honors at the Oklahoma Community Theatre Association's OCTAfest, went on to the regional competition of the 2011 American Association of Community Theaters Festival, and ultimately was presented at the national competition.
