Tom Novak, co-founder of Brookside by Day, 3313 S. Peoria Ave., has left the restaurant after 20-plus years heading up the kitchen staff in the popular breakfast-lunch eatery.
Novak said he left “for personal reasons, and I’ll just leave it at that.”
“I’m going to miss my customers,” he added. “I’ve made a lot of friends there over 20 years.”
Novak and Kyle Phillips, who manages the front of the house, opened Brookside by Day on Oct. 3, 1991.
Novak said he currently is working at Village at Southern Hills.
“It’s a skilled nursing and assisted living facility, and I’m learning dietitian-style cooking,” Novak said. “I’m looking into the possibility of opening a restaurant in the future, probably in Broken Arrow, but there is nothing certain about that.”
Novak also designs and builds mosaic picture frames. More information about the frames can be found at tulsaworld.com/mosaicsbynovak.
