Decisions, decisions ...
Screw dieting.
I'm hot, I'm very much bothered, and, consequently, my will power has evaporated. Somewhat.
Still love me a salad, and Lord knows I sweat off at least two or three pounds while mowing my yard this weekend. But I love -- like, in a potentially inappropriate way -- ice-cold desserts whenever it's 90-plus degrees outside. Yes, yes, I'll practice moderation, just give me some ice cream already.
So, as it's hotter than Hades now, I thought it'd be refreshing to offer up a list this week of some of my favorite CHILLY TREATS from around the 918.
First up, Mod's Coffee & Crepes at 507 S. Boston Ave. -- specifically, their chocolate and stracciatella gelatos. They offer three sizes, of which names for the smallest two escape me because I've never ordered them. I assume it's "large," and I ask for some of the chocolate and stracciatella (think vanilla on steroids, just more attractive), both of which are sinfully rich.
I've vowed this summer to try one new flavor once every other week, but so far I've yet to keep that promise because I sit around craving the dang stracciatella, which I imagine is laced with crack. But whatever, it's one of the tastiest treats around -- so go try it.
