Are you ready for the new "Fright Night?"
I'm not a horror person. My husband can attest to that. I'm the cover-my-eyes-at-anything-remotely-scary-or-gross type of person. I know I'm a weenie, and it involves a long story about me watching "Hellraiser" at a slumber party.
But I love camp, and I've really enjoyed so-called campy horror films, since I was first introduced in college to the "Evil Dead" films by Sam Raimi.
Back in 2009, I absolutely loved Raimi's "Drag Me to Hell." I gave it a three-star review, and in retrospect I should have given it an extra half-star.
So I was happy to review this week's newest release in the genre,
Fright Night. It was fun to watch Colin Farrell as a very evil vampire, named Jerry. He's turning into quite the versatile actor. Once a hot-tempered, tabloid target, Farrell has publicly admitted he's sobered up and since has been making great choices, including "In Bruges," "Crazy Heart" and now "Fright Night."
What are your favorite campy-horror characters?
