THE PICKER
We were flipping through some games over the weekend and stopped on what we thought was the Purdue game.
But we thought ...
After the fluke win over the Giants, a game in which the visitor gave up six turnovers and still appeared to be the better ...
Will you look at this:
Tulsa at Bowling Green.
Virginia Tech versus Alabama.
LSU versus TCU.
Georgia at Clemson.
North ...
Stoops or Gundy?
Made you think, didn't we.
Still thinking?
Picking one of those coaches to lead a team is no longer a simple task.
It's safe to say that this year OSU figures to be a little better than OU. About the only rap against Gundy is his defeatist attitude about not wanting to schedule good non-conference foes. You have to play one good non-conference team. Why? It will matter in the final poll when a new voting committee will take schedule into consideration. Also, playing good teams helps you to improve. Playing bums is only good for the coach.
Here are ten things Stoops needs to do to catch OSU.
1. Stop talking about the past. Switzer can handle that.
2. Fix recruiting. Recruit Texas. Recruit the best in-state players. Forget LA and Florida punks. Limit jucos.
3. Get nice. You used to have a sense of humor. Don't regard the press as the enemy.
4. Dump the spread. It is a gimmick and restricts great lineman recruits.
5. Run better, but not with the quarterback.
6. Throw to the tight end.
7. Cross your fingers Mack at Texas doesn't come to his senses.
8. Find a donor with billions to spend.
9. Hope the Thunder stays decent, limiting the heat you take.
10. Plant some trees around your mansion.
