Oklahoma's Carrie Underwood will perform a tribute to The Beatles at the close of "The 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards" Sunday on CBS.
The announcement was made Wednesday by the show's executive producer Ken Ehrlich. Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the event.
The closing portion of the show, airing 7-10 p.m. on channel 6 in Tulsa, will honor television milestones of that year, including coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22 and the pop culture explosion of Beatlemania, according to thewrap.com. The Beatles made their first nationwide appearance in the United States 80 days later on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on Feb. 9, 1964. The segment will be hosted by Emmy nominee actor Don Cheadle.
Country music star and multiple Grammy winner Underwood, a native of Checotah, will pay homage to the music of that era.
