Lee Pace EVAN ANGOSTINI/Invision/AP file
Lee Pace is keeping busy these days.
The Chickasha-born actor who charmed audiences in his breakout role on "Pushing Daisies" is soon to appear in the second installment of Peter Jackson's "Hobbit" franchise, will play a villain in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" next summer, and Friday
it was reported he's landed a lead role on a new AMC show.
Pace will star as Joe in the period drama "Halt & Catch Fire." Here's the synopsis from the network:
"Halt & Catch Fire," set in the early 1980s, revolves around the personal computing boom and is told through the eyes of a visionary and an engineer and prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time. Their partnership will be challenged by greed and ego while charting the changing culture in Texas' Silicon Prairie."
This sounds like a story inspired by the experiences of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, except in Dallas. I'd guess Pace is playing the visionary and co-star Scoot McNairy the prodigious engineer. Also starring are Kerry Bishé (who was great with McNairy as two of the embassy hostages in "Argo") and rising child star Maggie Elizabeth Jones ("We Bought a Zoo").
The series was created by Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers with Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein (both of "Breaking Bad") on board as executive producers.
