David Letterman is joining Dustin Hoffman, Led Zeppelin, blues legend Buddy Guy and ballerina Natalia Marakova as recipients of the "2012 Annual Kennedy Center Honors."
That's the word from deadline.com which is also reporting Led Zeppelin will be honored as a rock band and keyboardist/bassist Jon Paul Jones, guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Robert Plant will also receive medallions. The recipients were announced by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Wednesday.
"With their extraordinary talent, creativity and tenacity, the seven 2012 Kennedy Center Honorees have contributed significantly to the cultural life of our nation and the world," said Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein in a statement posted on the website.
The honorees will be feted at a State Department dinner with Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and will sit with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during the Dec. 4 ceremony.
The two-hour honors special will be broadcast Dec. 26 on CBS.
