Check out our interview with Dfest headliner Cake. Cake performs at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday on the Poseidon Stage.

Dfest runs Friday and Saturday at the Blue Dome District in downtown Tulsa.

Organizers said they expect 70,000 people over the two-day music conference and festival.

For more interviews with headliners Dengue Fever, Blue October, Colourmusic (performing Thursday at the Dfest VIP/launch party), Gil Mantera's Party Dream, Ian Moore and The Uglysuit, check out the Tulsa World mini-site at

tulsaworld.com/Dfest.

Here's a sample of that Cake interview:

Q: What's the funniest/weirdest story you have about any song you've written?

A: When we traveled to France and played a cover version of "I Will Survive," they all sang along to the instrumental solo section of the song. It turns out that melody was what the sports crowds all sang together at their soccer games.

Q: What can fans expect during your Dfest performance?

A: We'll do everything in our power to deliver sonic showers of rhythm and melody in a way that is on a par with the standards of excellence in which we've set precedent. We've also been playing a couple new original songs from our forthcoming album. We're happy with how they've been received by audiences.

Q: What's the coolest fact about your fans?

A: There is no clearly definable demographic. We get all ages. The concert-goers that we've met have all been fine people and have given us great faith in humanity.

Also, see the Tulsa World interviews with emerging acts Billy Joe Winghead, Crocodile, Daniel Walcher, Dead Sea Choir, Gentleman Auction House, Mayola, Ptiaradactyl, Rainbows Are Free, Round Up Boys, Stars Go Dim and Three Penny Upright at tulsaworld.com/Dfest.
