Leave it to Stephen Colbert to take after First Lady Michelle Obama for asking for an advance copy of hugely-popular and posh Brit series "Downton Abbey."
As a "commoner left to fear what will become of Downton Abbey" until the hit series returns January 6 on PBS, last night the host of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" comes up with his own spoof of the drama combined with – wait for it – "Breaking Bad."
Colbert even has "Abbey" stars Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and Rob James-Collier cooking "black camomile crack" in a mobile (pronounced mo-byle) lab and quoting lines like "Soon Downton will be kicking it with mad bitches and benjamins."
When Lord Grantham meets a buyer (played by Mark Consuelos with bad fake teeth but perfect pinky form), the man agrees it is good stuff and will take his with milk.
Following a violent confrontation, butler Carson (Carter) declares Lord Grantham (Bonham)is the "new tea kingpin of Yorkshire."
"Yes but it's a mixed blessing," the Lord replies. "As Byron once said 'Mo money, mo quandries.'"
