Oklahoma City psychedelic rocker The Flaming Lips will perform a gig at this year’s South by Southwest monster music festival and industry conference this month in Austin.

The Lips also will debut music from its upcoming album, “The Terror,” and a new film, “A Year in the Life of Wayne’s Phone.” The shows are March 14 at the Warner Bros showcase at the Belmont and March 15 at Auditorium Shores.

The film debuts 9:15 p.m. March 13 at the Alamo Ritz Theater. A Q&A with frontman Wayne Coyne will follow.

In addition, a roster of other Okie-tied acts also will perform at the Buffalo Lounge Takeover.

The lounge will host film, interactive and music events March 11-13 at The 512 venue, 408 E. Sixth St. (at Sixth and Trinity). The lounge events hope to reach more then 60,000 festival attendees, management said in a press statement.

The Buffalo Lounge is spearheaded by Idea Collective and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, along with sponsorships from numerous Oklahoma businesses and nonprofits, including OKPOP Museum, the Woody Guthrie Center, ACM@UCO and the Oklahoma Film & Music Office, among others.

The Oklahoma film party, The Red Dirt Reel, is 3-6 p.m. Monday at the Buffalo Lounge. Before that, the Buffalo Lounge also will host a webinar with a panel of established film professionals that will discuss film incentives offered in Texas, Oklahoma, and surrounding areas. Tulsa cover act My So Called Band will perform.

March 12, the real music starts, noon-5 p.m. with Oklahoma music on two stages in the Lounge: Colin Nance, Mont Lyons, Skating Polly, Depth and Current, Reality, Admirals, Modern Rock Diaries, Taddy Porter, Paul Benjaman Band, Idabel, Hudson Roar, Mark Gibson, Beau Jennings and The Tigers, Deerpeople, Daniel Walcher and Jabee. The official SxSW showcase starts at 8 p.m., with bands Paperscissor, Tallows, Colourmusic, Horse Thief, Day One and Stardeath & White Dwarfs.

March 13 daytime lounge performers include Susan Herndon, Desi and Cody, Josh Sallee, The Del Toros, The Dustin Pittsley Band, Guardant, The Bourgeois, We the Ghost, Bowlsey, Brave, Blake Fischer, The Kamals, The Lower 40 and Ripple Green. That night, the official SxSW showcase includes Zach Winters, Parker Millsap, OK Sweetheart, Defining Times, Samantha Crain and Broncho.

The official SxSW showcases need an official SxSW entry badge or wrist band to enter. Other events are open to the public. For more information on the Flaming Lips events, visit tulsaworld.com/sxsw.
