If you’re looking for a cute, easy Christmas project, we have a great one that’s running in Monday’s paper.

Those of you who are serious about making gingerbread houses may consider them too elementary, but these faux gingerbread houses (made with graham crackers) are way easier to make, leaving more time for the fun part: decorating.

Our Scene section designer Susan Cyrus first tried the project with some very willing children who had a blast decorating their houses with candy canes, gumdrops, M&Ms and pretzel sticks.

I’m planning my own gingerbread house decorating for two little girls coming to my house for a Christmas breakfast on Sunday. It should be fun.

Hope you enjoy the project in Monday’s paper.
