An elevator installation has briefly stalled the opening of a new downtown restaurant, The Vault, according to owner Libby Auld.
"We went in to repair the old elevator and found out we had to put in a new one," Auld said. "That is taking added time.
"It will only take about a week after the elevator is done to put in carpet, move furniture around and put on the finishing touches. But there are some permits we can't get until the elevator is done, and that could take extra time, too."
Auld, who also owns Elote Cafe, said an optimistic projection still would be a late August opening, but it could run into September.
The Vault is located at 624 S. Cincinnati Ave. in a building that first housed First National Autobank in 1959.
Auld said The Vault will be open for lunch and dinner Monday-Saturday. She said the restaurant will have dedicated parking (56 spaces) on the second level during the day and additional ground-floor parking (159 spaces) at night.
