The fantastic multi-genre singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams will be in Tulsa on Friday, and we have your chance to win tickets right here.

Williams is scheduled to play Cain’s Ballroom Friday. If you want to go, just tell us why.

Just like the Tulsa World Scene Facebook site, tulsaworld.com/scenefb, or the Tulsa World main site, tulsaworld.com/twfacebook, and share any Lucinda Williams post. Tell us why you need to see Lucinda, and you’ll be entered to win one pair of two we are giving away. You have until Thursday to enter.

Why do I want to see Lucinda and why do you need to see her?

First, Williams has been a force in the music world for decades. The first of her 11 albums was released in 1979. She won her first Grammy Award for best country song in 1994 for “Passionate Kisses,” which she wrote and was a major hit for Mary Chapin Carpenter. She won another in 1999 for best contemporary folk album and her third Grammy in 2002 for best female rock vocal performance. She was most recently nominated in 2012 for best Americana album for her most recent, “Blessed.”

Which brings me to the second (of many) reasons to see her: Her cross-genre appeal. Williams has a distinct voice that makes a perfect rocker, you feel the blues when she sings, the folk and country music just sounds right with Lucinda singing and strumming along.

She is also a masterful songwriter, with songs just dripping with emotion and sincerity.

She even has a few ties to the area, having spent some time growing up in Fayetteville, Ark.

Those are my reasons. What are yours? Enter early for your chance to experience this show. And it is an experience.

Keep checking with us over the next few weeks, too. We have several ticket contest announcements coming up.
