"Kick off your Sunday shoes..."

Yes, I went to see Footloose this morning, and I'll have to keep you in suspense until they publish my review.

But I'm officially stuck on the Kenny Loggins classic song...for the rest of the day, and probably the weekend.

I don't think I was allowed to see the 1984 version of Footloose at the movie theater. In fact, I remember the babysitter visiting us that night, while my parents saw it.

But I do remember bopping around my bedroom to the soundtrack, over and over again, probably for the rest of the year. I'm surprised I didn't break the cassette. I'm sure my parents were really sick of Almost Paradise after the 113th time.

Footloose certainly belongs in my '80s soundtrack-of-my-life vault, and
I'm not sure I knew the true meaning of some of those songs, especially Dancing In the Sheets, thank goodness.

Sorry for the bit of nostalgia, but I have a point about Footloose's music. The new movie was wise to include some of the original songs, including Kenny Loggins' biggest hit, and my fave, Let's Hear it For the Boy.

The rest of the songs are remakes, and while their country twang fits in with the fictional town, they just don't have the same excitement as the poppy, synthesized beats of the original film's songs.

Now where are all of my old cassettes....

What are you favorite '80s movie soundtracks?
