Former Jenks quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen has been named Northern Iowa's starting quarterback.

After redshirting last season, Kollmorgen has four years of eligibility remaining.

Kollmorgen led Jenks to three Class 6A state title games from 2008-10.

Defensive end and OU commit D.J. Ward will need another hardship waiver from the OSSAA to be eligible for his senior season at Southmoore. The earliest he could become eligible is Week 3...

Owasso hosts Broken Arrow on Friday night in the Crosstown Showdown for the Bailey Cup...

My favorite quote during the week leading up to Friday's MidFirst Backyard Bowl was from Union linebacker David Todd, who said about the mental intensity needed against Jenks -- "It more of a grind than a game."

I also liked Todd's nickname describing "Superman" Alex Ross, who had a breakout performance in the 2010 Backyard Bowl.
