The most frequently asked question I get, bar none: What is your favorite restaurant?

I dine at 100 different restaurants a year, give or take, and I've been doing this 7 1/2 years. That is roughly 750 restaurants.

Because of the nature of the job -- I have to dine out two or three times a week at different places, no matter what -- and because I enjoy my wife's cooking and like to relax at home after a day's work, we don't make many return visits to those 750 restaurants.

It's those return visits, where one develops a rapport with the staff and a familiarty with the menu (you can order the same thing every single time if you want; I can't do that, either), that foster a "favorite" restaurant.

A local CPA and wine aficionado told me after a recent trip throughout Europe that he can find as good a food at many places in Tulsa as he did in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, etc. For sure, we are fortunate to have many terrific cooks in our community, but picking a favorite: No way.
