Emily VanCamp of "Revenge" wore a sweet, sweet, bracelet.

Sunday's 2012 Emmy Awards fashion was absolutely runway-inspired with many triumphs and even a few pieces that are sure to be among future trends to watch. (See: Actress Emily VanCamp’s darling and glimmering bow-tied bracelet)

E!'s Kelly Osbourne – whose Countdown dress far outshined her purple red carpet choice – and new mom Giuliana Rancic predicted a lot of creams whites and ivories. What came out in a marked way, however, included wines and oxblood, earthy neutrals, some metals, aquas, and a few surprises in brilliant reds, golden yellows and even a little neon.

A few favorites

“Veep” star Anna Chlumsky in trailing gray lace, looked every much the “My Girl” star you so hoped she’d grow up to be. Very pretty!

Hayden Panettiere was stunning in a very regal deep, deep cerulean blue sheath covering an ornately designed golden bodice all by Marchesa. Panettiere's gorgeous look could have been brought one notch higher with an up-do more styled than the bun she wore. Nevertheless, she was among the best dressed.

Ginnifer Goodwin in an eye-catching nude and tangelo gown looked at once demure, mysterious and mod with her chic pixie cut, smoky eye make up and Monique Lhuillier dress.

Emily VanCamp’s stone gray sheer dress by J. Mendel was everything lovely on the young actress, complementing her so well – ultra feminine, flowy and a very nice note to hit for the Emmys. The delicate bow-tied bracelet that was surely blinging was such an appropriate touch and something one hopes to see more of.

Tina Fey in her strapless wine-colored gown with a textured gold detail was a favorite.

“Mad Men’s” sharp Jon Hamm was surely not to be missed, or Tom Hanks, very traditional but always handsome, and Aaron Paul with his funky bow tie.

Lucy Liu dazzled in a metallic Versace gown that briefly caught up in the gauzy and very princess-like dress of the quirky Zooey Deschanel on the E! red carpet.

Kerry Washington wore a simple but shimmery peach-pink dress that looked amazing with her skin.

Allison Williams in emerald-green Oscar de la Renta had a very classic look that featured a peplum trim.

And though Nicole Kidman was said to have picked what appeared to be the less preferred of two dresses due to the hot weather (um, 90 degrees folks!), she looked sleek in a long white Antonio Berardi dress featuring a mosaic of blue sequins. Next to her beautiful skin and paired with her straight honeyed locks that were parted down the middle, Kidman was downright striking.

A little more to be expected

Jessica Paré's goddess-like white dress with skinny black cording around the waist looked gorgeous -- though the shoes made the ensemble -- but was, on the whole, a disappointment. Too dark.

Someone said via Twitter that Glenn Close looked like a sad mother of the bride wrapped like a mummy. Wouldn’t say that -- but something about the sharp lines in her black dress reminded a bit of "The Hunger Games." Still, she looked very nice.

Actress/auteur Lena Dunham hasn’t found her style in the fashion department yet, but maybe that’s not necessary. The navy overlay ensemble that draped out at the hips and grazed the ground was unflattering and very dated for the 26-year-old.

E!’s Ryan Seacrest pointed out to actress girlfriend Julianne Hough that she’d chosen the other of the two hairstyles she was vacillating between while getting ready for the awards show. But she’d chosen the right one, he said. No, Seacrest had chosen the right one. The pin-up finger wave style was beautiful in idea but not the best choice for Hough’s strapless and unmemorable gown. A style high on her head would have given her height and been more flattering.

Of note

The lovely Sofia Vergara took her cues from the sea with a shimmering aqua dress that screamed mermaid and was definitely another favorite.

January Jones was lovely in her Zac Posen dress, which looked darn great, but paired with dark eye makeup reminded me too much of "Black Swan."

Not to be missed was Christina Hendricks of “Mad Men”: She looked classy and old-Hollywood glam in a strapless ecru dress by Christian Siriano.

Sarah Hyland looked beautiful and like a junior Rebecca Gayheart in a cream gown accented with floral designs near the shoulders.

Um, did you see those almost hip-high slits in Heidi Klum’s pale mint dress by Alexandre Vauthier? The almost-divorced model/actress was definitely out to make a breathtaking and 'look-what-you're-missing' statement.

And my favorite on the red carpet? Not an easy choice! Just for now I’ll say VanCamp. But then Kidman was amazing, too. And stone neutral is a bit subdued for the biggest night in TV. But gosh VanCamp was so beautiful. As was Goodwin and Vergara and Washington ... um everyone!

Alright, VanCamp it is. Can’t get enough of that look.
