There must be something in the water over at Sony headquarters that's giving them goofy ideas. First it's the strange hybrid between a streaming TV box and a PlayStation Vita, now it's a tablet for your kitchen.

The Sony Xperia Z Kitchen Edition finally gives us everything we've wanted in a kitchen-based tablet, such as... wait, what did we always want in a kitchen-based tablet? It seems the answer is "a stand and pre-loaded recipes," because as we all know there's totally not thousands of cooking apps and countless online recipe databases out there.

Oh, and a meat thermometer.

Personally I would have liked for them to go the extra mile and given it stuff like an easy-clean coating to remove bacon grease smears and a quilted back with "kiss the cook" stitched in it. At the very least it would have been better to price it below the $649 Sony's asking for, which is $50 more than the equivalent iPad.
