It's a big week for America's First Lady.
Not to take anything away from President Barack Obama's second term inauguration Monday but Michelle Obama is celebrating her 49th birthday Thursday, opened a second Twitter account (@FLOTUS which is Washington shorthand for "first lady of the United States) on which she debuted her new haircut sporting bangs. She is also getting ready for all the inaugural festivities, reports usmagazine.com.
In the Twit pic, Mrs. Obama is seen talking to Inaugural citizen co-chair David Hall about the National Day of Service Saturday which asks people to volunteer in their communities in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the US Weekly website reported Thursday.
She also talked to the magazine about the importance of giving back and paying it forward.
"My parents taught me from an early age that all of us can find time to give back," Mrs. Obama told the website.
"And throughout my life, whenever I've volunteered, I leave feeling like I'm getting as much as I'm giving."
The presidential inauguration consists of a week of events including the swearing-in ceremony (a small private one on Sunday and a public ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday), inaugural address, inaugural parade and numerous balls and galas honoring the newly re-elected president of the United States.
Most major television networks and cable channels plan to cover the festivities all day.
