Take a first look at Marvel's summer blockbuster "The Avengers" in poster form that shows the entire team, and they're led by Iron Man. No surprise there.

As far as the credits at the top of the poster, the lineup looks like this:
Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man)
Chris Evans (Captain America)
Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk)
Chris Hemsworth (Thor)
Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow)
Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye)
Tom Hiddleston (Loki from "Thor")
and
Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D)

The lineup is different when it comes to seeing these characters on the poster, as to their image's size, which makes us wonder about their stature in the Marvel universe.

Largest image, front and center: Iron Man, whose films have made Marvel the megahit movie studio of the moment.

2nd largest: Thor. Hey, his movie last summer outperformed "Captain America" both domestically and internationally.

3rd largest: It appears that Hawkeye, who has yet to have his own film (only a cameo in "Thor"), is slightly larger than Black Widow, whose appearance came in a supporting role in "Iron Man 2."

Captain America comes next in the background, larger than Nick Fury, and the Hulk lurks last in the background, although his character is clearly larger than the others. That makes sense, since Ruffalo is already our third movie Hulk in just nine years.

Loki makes no appearance on the poster. Placement on the poster, it seems clear, is reserved for heroes, and not for slimeballs like Thor's brother gone bad.

"The Avengers" opens everywhere on May 4.
