Flaming Lips frontman
Wayne Coyne said this week that he plans to remake the controversial video he filmed last month for the
Erykah Badu collaboration of "
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face."
The video featured a nude Badu and her sister covered in things ranging from glitter to blood (among other things), and was quickly pulled when Badu said she hadn't approved the "raw" version released to the public. It also set off a nasty Twitter fusillade of epic proportions from fans of both artists (and from the artists themselves).
Coyne said that he'll use a "more willing participant," hinting that outspoken music industry outlier and provocateur
Amanda Palmer of the bands
The Dresden Dolls and
Evelyn Evelyn and
Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra may star in the new video.
MTV news quoted Coyne: "At the moment, I'm talking with (Dresden Dolls singer) Amanda Palmer about remaking the video and having Amanda sing it and just be in the video."
Palmer's no stranger to controversy -- or to dark humor and parody. She's recorded confrontational songs about date rape, self-harm and once performed a mock sexual attack of a lookalike Katy Perry during a live concert.
