Former Owasso pitcher Brian Flynn picked up his first major league hit, but received no-decision on the mound in his major league debut for the Miami Marlins in a 9-7 loss to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Flynn allowed six hits and three runs, walked three and struck out two in four innings.
He was part of what might be the first Tulsa-born battery in the major leagues. Flynn's catcher was veteran Koyie Hill. Both were born in Tulsa...
Flynn has one more major league hit than another former Owasso player, St. Louis shortstop Pete Kozma, has in the past three weeks. Kozma is an 0-for-30 drought since a game-winning RBI single against the Cubs on Aug. 11.
Earlier this year, he went in an 0-for-26 tailspin that he ended against the Cubs. His batting average is down to .212. But to his credit he has not allowed his hitting woes affect his fielding as he has committed only eight errors this season...
Kansas City promoted former Red Oak outfielder Lane Adams to Triple-A Omaha for the Pacific Coast League playoffs. Adams batted a combined .265 with 12 homers, 65 RBIs and 38 stolen bases for Single-A Wilmington and Double-A Northwest Arkansas. He had a three-homer game last month for Northwest Arkansas.
Adams and a few other Northwest Arkansas players were added when Kansas City called up several players from Omaha, including former Drillers first baseman Carlos Pena, released by Houston in July.
