Lincoln Christian graduate Cale Grauer will be the starting quarterback for Oklahoma Baptist's first football game since 1940.

OBU head coach Chris Jensen announced that Grauer will start the opener at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against visiting Southwestern College.

“It has been really difficult to differentiate between Cale and Blake (Woodard),” Jensen said in a press release. “Both of them have been diligent to perfect the skills they need to be successful, establish influence with their teammates, and lead this team with their work ethic. I have prayed for wisdom and discernment while making this decision and feel confident it is the right one. I believe they have both earned the right to be on the field, so we will go into the game with a planned rotation. They will both have a chance to display their skills and we will reevaluate for next week.”

Grauer passed for 2,702 yards and 33 touchdowns to lead Lincoln to the Class 2A state title in 2009. He is a sophomore transfer from Missouri Western. Woodard is a redshirt freshman from Newcastle.
