High school football is right around the corner. Fort Gibson will get a quick start by going at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

The Tigers will be working on the school’s baseball diamond because installation of a new turf for the football stadium has not been completed, head coach James Singleton said.

Singleton is hopeful the change won’t curtail the excitement of kicking off preseason drills.

Here’s wondering if any other schools are going with a “Midnight Madness” format on Sunday night/Monday morning. The Tulsa World would like to know. Please respond by commenting below.

High school drills have always started on the second Tuesday in August, but the OSSAA is adding an extra conditioning day to the calendar this season.

Teams may begin work Monday, but practice in full pads still may not start until Friday of the first week.
