The cast of "Married With Children" (from left, Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, David Faustino and Christina Applegate) reminisce about their time on the Fox series in "Fox's 25th Anniversary Special," airing at 7 p.m. April 22 on channel 23, cable 5. RAY MICKSHAW/Fox

Fox celebrates its 25th anniversary this month with the re-airing the "Married With Children" pilot at 6 p.m. April 22 followed by an encore of the 500th episode of "The Simpsons" and a two-hour anniversary special.

"Married" first introduced the world to the dysfunctional family of Al (ED O’Neill) and Peggy Bundy (Katey Sagal) and their children Kelly (Christina Applegate) and Bud (David Faustino) in 1987. The series completed its series run in June 1997.

Ed hates his job as a shoe salesman, his wife is lazy, his daughter is promiscuous and his son is totally self-absorbed. They were the opposite of "Father Knows Best" and, for the audience, hysterically so. Versions of "Married" were also shot in Argentina, Hungary, Armenia, Chile, Croatia, Germany, Turkey, Russia, Spain and, most recently, Bulgaria.

Fox will also air its "25th Anniversary Special" at 7 p.m. April 22 on channel 23, cable 5. It will feature appearances by, among others, Calista Flockhart from "Ally McBeal"; Gabrielle Carteris, Shannen Doherty, Jason Priestley and Ian Ziering from "Beverly Hills, 90210"; Christina Applegate, David Faustino, Ed O'Neill and Katey Sagal from "Married With Children"; Patrick Warburton from "The Tick"; Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny and creator Chris Carter from "The X-Files" and the casts of "In Living Color" and "That '70s Show," including Ashton Kutcher.

Below is a look back at life at the Bundys on Fox's "Married With Children," circa 1987.
