According to one report, there were few empty seats at the big Bassmaster final-round weigh-in.
That's good.
That's because the weigh-in was free.
One thing people around here are pretty good at is supporting free stuff.
It's hard to get down the street at Mayfest.
Give away a tree sprig at the Fair, they'll line up 50-deep.
One tournament promoter/chamber type said the fishing tournament was bigger than OU football, bigger than the major golf tournaments at Southern Hills.
Whereas seeing people support free stuff does give you a warm feeling, the fishing tournament was not bigger than OU football or major tournament golf.
How big was it?
About on a par with something like a senior golf tour event.
But then again, we fish with cane poles and minnows.
