Colourmusic

Psychedelic noise-pop rocker Colourmusic jumpstarts the Free Tulsa festivities a week early with a free concert 9 p.m. Saturday at Crystal Pistol, 417 N Main St.

Admission is free. Guests must be age 21 or older.

Band members Ryan Hendrix, Colin Fleishacker and Nick Ley say they’ll be filming the concert and will debut new music from their upcoming third full-length album.

“Tulsa’s always been really great for us, we always have a great crowd when we’re there,” said Ley. The band formed in Stillwater in 2005 and has toured the world.

The band is still managed by Scott Booker, who also manages the Flaming Lips and the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma. Some of their earliest gigs were at Tulsa’s Dfest music festival before Free Tulsa slid into the downtown music festival timeslot several years ago.

Also performing will be electronic act Jumpship Astronaut.

Learn more and read a full interview with Colourmusic in next week’s Weekend section of the Tulsa World.

Free Tulsa is July 27-28 in the Blue Dome District of downtown Tulsa. Admission is free and all ages. However, some venues are age-restricted and guests must be 21 or older.

This is an early peek at the schedule. It will likely change slightly as the festival approaches. Visit the Free Tulsa mobile site at www.mobile.freetulsamusicfestival.com for full details!
