The Garlic Rose, located in the Consortium at 3509 S. Peoria Ave., recently closed its doors for good after nearly a decade of offering upscale Italian fare in Brookside.

"It came time to renew our lease, and we talked it over and made the business decision to close," said Josh Ozaras. "It was really tough, but we decided to focus on the Chalkboard, which is our bread and butter."

The Ozaras family operates the Chalkboard restaurant, where Josh Ozaras is general manager and catering director, in the Hotel Ambassador.

Garlic Rose opened in 2002. Prior to that the space held Stonehorse Cafe and Gold Coast Coffee Co.
