Happy Geek Week!

This first-ever event from YouTube, slated Aug. 4-10, offers all-new programming from more than 100 channels. The week is broken up into lots of genres of geek, each promising some unique treats. I'm excited to tune in at youtube.com/GeekWeek.

Blockbuster Sunday: "A celebration of the iconic characters, movies and shows that define geek culture — plus a spotlight on the best original YouTube sci-fi, fantasy and animation." Check out the highlights video from Sunday below, as well as the TV ad for Geek Week and a new animated video using the "Star Wars Filibuster" speech from Patton Oswalt (featured in "Parks & Recreation" on NBC).

Global Geekery Monday: Anime from Tokyo, comic-book heroes from Delhi and more world vids. This is the day for Whovians to tune in, as a celebration of "Doctor Who" is planned. And with the news of a 12th Doctor being cast (the big reveal of Peter Capaldi was done live on BBC on Sunday), there's that much more to talk about.

Brainiac Tuesday: Science, education and knowledge channels. I'm really hoping to see something special from ASAPscience, known for its "got a burning question?" videos like What Came First, the Chicken or the Egg?

Thor: The Dark WorldSuper Wednesday: Superhero, supernatural, supereverything hosted by Stan Lee's YouTube channel, World of Heroes. Plus, released exclusively for Geek Week, the trailer for Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World."

Gaming Thursday: Live play-throughs, video games in real life, game-inspired original series and more. This should prove to be a lot of content to sift through.

Fan Friday: Sci-fi-style cooking, high-end cosplay and "impassioned nerd debates as YouTube's biggest fans take center stage." With Geek and Sundry (the channel co-founded by Felicia Day) hosting, this is bound to be a fantastic finale to Geek Week.

Check out the TV ad for Geek Week with Felicia Day and a teaser for the new "Thor" trailer.

See the new animated video with Patton Oswalt's "Star Wars Filibuster."
