According to the Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal, AMC Entertainment has settled its dispute with Disney Studios over how to split ticket sales for “Iron Man 3.” Cinemark, according to the Hollywood Reporter, also has reach an agreement.
The decision allows fans to buy advance tickets for next weeks (May 3) “Iron Man 3” opening.
"Iron Man 3 tickets are now on sale and we’re excited to welcome guests to the 9 p.m. debut and Marvel’s Iron Man Marathon at AMC, both on May 2," AMC said in a statement.
Disney and Regal Entertainment Group is still in talks but could reach a settlement soon, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that Disney wanted to renegotiate the ticket-sales revenue split between the studio and theater chains. Normally, the box-office revenue is about 50-50.
The nation’s fourth-largest theater chain, Carmike Cinemas, refused to sell tickets as well, but reached a deal last week to sell advance tickets online.
“Iron Man3” is projected to be one of the biggest movies of the year, with estimates ranging from $125 million to $151 million.
As of Thursday afternoon, tickets for the 12:01 a.m. “Iron Man 3” show were available at
Fandango.com. You’ll find the Prairie Nerds there next Friday, May 3.
