Everyone knows the peach crop is suffering this year due to the weather, but Bodean Seafood, 3376 E. 51st St., has been making recent successful hauls from the Porter area.

The kitchen staff is employing Porter peaches -- as long as the fruit is available -- in a variety of dishes, including pan-seared Alaskan halibut with rock shrimp, Porter peaches and chimichurri sauce; sesame-crusted jumbo sea scallop with an avocado satay, peach salsa, Porter peaches and capers, and six-layer peach delight or peach ice cream.

The Bodean market also has some new arrivals for home cooks, including Washington State sardines, Baja California black bass, and Alaskan True cod.
