Got a favorite golf course? Golfweek just unveiled its seventh annual “best courses you can play” special issue. Translatation: The magazine ranked the best daily-fee public access golf courses in each state and two Tulsa-area courses made the Oklahoma list.
Here are Golfweek’s top five Oklahoma tracks: 1, Karsten Creek, Stillwater. 2, Jimmie Austin Golf Course, Norman. 3, Chickasaw Pointe, Kingston. 4, Cherokee Hills, Catoosa. 5, Forest Ridge, Oklahoma.
Golfweek also ranked courses -- public and private -- by other categories.
Southern Hills (No. 26) was the only Oklahoma course to make the list of the nation’s best “classic” (built before 1960) courses.
Patriot Golf Club (No. 42) in Owasso was one of three Oklahoma courses on the list of the nation’s best modern (built since 1960) courses. Oak Tree National in Edmond is No. 44 and Karsten Creek is No. 50.
Oak Tree National was No. 11 on a list of the nation’s best residential courses, followed by Patriot Golf Club (13), The Territory (26) in Duncan and Gaillardia (84) in Oklahoma City.
