Oklahoma rocker
Tyson Meade is working on a new album.
He’s possibly most well-known for his work in alt-glam rock
Chainsaw Kittens, which disbanded more than 10 years ago.
Recently, he released a single as
Winter Boys, recorded with
Jesse Tabish of
Other Lives and
Derek Brown of the
Flaming Lips. He told the Daily Oklahoman that for the full album, ex-
Smashing Pumpkins drummer
Jimmy Chamberlin will contribute, as will ex-
Lone Justice lead singer
Maria McKee.
One of his 15-year-old students from the time he’s spent in China,
Haffijy, will be the “cornerstone” of the upcoming work.
“One of the main reasons I am doing this album is to bring notice to China and to the Chinese people. I want my fans to know how much I love the Chinese and what wonderful people they are. They have inspired me to write music again. Their kindness and purity of spirit is unequaled. We should love them as much as they love us,” he recently told
Punk Globe online magazine.
Meade will perform an in-store concert “with special guest” at
Dwelling Spaces, 119 S. Detroit Ave. He will play new music, as well as tunes from his days in
Defenestration and Chainsaw Kittens.
More information will be announced soon.
