Oklahoma-tied Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill has joined with Nick Brown of Mona to reveal the first single from the pair's upcoming debut "EP1."

The duo calls itself Smoke & Jackal and will release the six-track EP on Oct. 16. The single hits digital retailers on Aug. 28.

A companion video clip for single "No Tell" is in post-production, the pair's publicist said.

"Coming together just worked," Followill said in a press statement. "I think it's because we took such an easy approach to it, we didn't bring any egos to it. We just talked about each other's ideas, neither one of us got our feelings hurt. It just worked."

Smoke & Jackal was recently revealed to the world earlier Wednesday as BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe debuted the single "No Tell" and declared it the "hottest record in the world."

"It was all about tone and vibe and what felt right in that moment," Brown said of the tune in a media statement. "Not second guessing, just having fun in that moment."

Followill and Brown began recording as Smoke & Jackal earlier this year in Brown's Nashville home, fueled by red wine and a shared fascination with timbre, rhythm and aural adventure.
