To celebrate its 115th birthday, Langston University will kick off its homecoming with its 7th annual President’s Scholarship Gala, Oct 12.

Featured performer will be Grammy nominated R&B performer Brian McKnight and LU alum and comedian “Jammin” Jay Lamont.

The event starts at 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, and tickets are available by calling the LU Office of Development at 405-466-3232.

Individual tickets for the Brian McKnight performance go on sale Aug. 17 at www.langston.edu.

“Our goal is to raise scholarship dollars while also providing top-level entertainment for attendees of the 7th Annual President’s Scholarship Gala,” LU President Kent J. Smith Jr. said in a media statement. “We are extremely pleased to present a singer of Brian McKnight’s caliber. He is known internationally as a star among stars, and we believe he will put on a great show for our annual gala."

McKnight is a American singer-songwriter, arranger, producer, R&B musician and multi-instrumentalist. He can play eight instruments, including piano, percussion, trombone, tuba, guitar, trumpet, bass guitar and flugelhorn. His first, self-titled studio album was released in 1992. "Just Me" was released in 2011. He's been nominated for 16 Grammy Awards since 1994.
