What, I dare ask, is the optimum number of people you need to have slept with to be a hit on the dating scene -- or, perhaps, considered a big ol' ho?
'Tis the question posed via survey by SeekingArrangement.com, the "world's largest Sugar Daddy dating website," with more than 1.7 million members worldwide.
The answer: a perfect 10.
Both men and women said that 10 lovers was the right "Goldilocks" answer -- as in, "Mmm, mmm, this porridge is
just right." Yikes.
Anyhoo, with 10 lovers, you are neither too hot nor too cold, survey says (anyone else reminiscing "Family Feud"?). More than 10, and you will put off a potential partner by being seen as promiscuous. Less than 10? You'll be considered sexually inexperienced.
SeekingArrangement.com asked more than 10,000 of its male and female members to list how many ex-lovers they wanted a new partner to have. Here are the results:
- 48 percent of women and 45 percent of men said that around 10 was perfect
- 35 percent of women and 44 percent of men said that below 10 was perfect
- 13 percent of women and 9 percent of men said that between 10 and 30 was perfect
- 4 percent of women and 2 percent of men said that more than 30 was perfect
Those polled were also asked if they wanted to know how many lovers a new partner has had in their past. Just 31 percent of women wanted to know a man's total, compared to 69 percent who would rather not find out.
For men, 43 percent wanted to know a woman's sexual history, against 57 percent who said they would rather not find out.
The results may be giving us a fascinating insight into dating etiquette -- and suggest that men are less tolerant of promiscuity than woman.
Buenos dias, double standard!
While few female celebrities have revealed their totals (except Goldilocks, who has publicly boasted 18 -- just kidding), male celebrities have been far more willing to share their numbers: Hugh Hefner had 1,000+; Jack Nicholson, 2,000+; Mick Jagger, 4,000+; Charlie Sheen, 5,000+; and, with the most random number in the lot, Warren Beatty, 12,775+. Really? Why couldn't he just round up to 12,800? I mean, is he sitting around trying to think of the full names of the extra 25+ he slept with and thought, "Well, I better just be safe and round down two dozen, plus one."
Whatever, the website's founder, Brandon Wade, commented on how the dating game is changing.
"If we had conducted this poll 10 years ago, men would have expected a potential partner to have slept with far fewer people," he said. "But a gentleman never asks a woman how many men she has slept with."
That's true, especially if the woman is a total stranger.
Peace, love and two dozen, plus one ... XOXO
