A new album of Alabama covers from contemporary musicians pays tribute to 40 years of the band.
One of those is Broken Arrow's own, JD McPherson.
The album, High Cotton -- A Tribute to Alabama, is set for release on Sept. 17, and CMT Edge has released the opening track of the album, "Why Lady Why," performed by McPherson.
McPherson brings his solid rockabilly sound to the classic Alabama song. Listen below.
Other Okies on the album include the Turnpike Troubadours performing "If You're Gonna Play In Texas" and Jason Boland and the Stragglers playing "Mountain Music."
Alabama is also in the middle of a 40th anniversary that will bring them to The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa on Oct. 11. Ticket information is available at
