It was tough being the higher seeded team in the boys high school state basketball championships that concluded on Saturday. None of the top-ranked teams won a gold ball in any of the seven classifications.
Four of the seven state finals were No. 2 ranked vs. No. 1 matchups and the No. 2 team won all four as 6A Edmond Memorial, 5A Tulsa Memorial, 4A Oklahoma City Douglass and Class A Glencoe all prevailed over the favorites.

Edmond Memorial and Millwood were teams of destiny. All three of Edmond Memorial's wins came down to either making a last-second shot or its opponent missing, and the Bulldogs needed double overtime to prevail in the semifinals against Owasso.
So did all three of Millwood's games, including its quarterfinal when the game was decided by a Hugo player scoring in the wrong basket.
