Oklahoma is lucky. One of the Sooners' most aggressive defensive players is also among their smartest – free safety Gabe Lynn.

And so when the time came during OU's season opener against ULM for Lynn to deliver the biggest blow of the night, it was perfectly clean. No worries about being flagged for targeting, an ejection and suspension from the next game against West Virginia. Just, as play-by-play man Ron Thulin put it, "textbook tackling."

Watch for yourself, at the 13:15 mark:

Lynn admits he is having to adjust to the targeting crackdown, saying: "You've got to think before you do it. I just keep my head up and make sure I wrap up, and underneath the helmet."

It wasn't an issue when he unloaded on ULM wide receiver Rashon Caesar.

"That was perfect," Lynn said. "I was able to hit him under the target zone, so it worked out well."
