For those looking to beat the crowd, two of the year's most anticipated movies are released in the next week, and you can see both before most of your friends.
"Skyfall" is the new James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig. It's the first in the series to open in the giant-screen IMAX format as well, and it's celebrating that fact with an early release.
While you can see "Skyfall" anywhere beginning Friday, only the IMAX auditoriums at Cinemark Tulsa and AMC Southroads 20 offer showtimes all day on Thursday.
"Skyfall" debuts with a midnight Thursday screening -- that's late-night Wednesday when you line up to get in -- for the IMAX screens at 12:07 for 007's new movie.
As for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2," the official opening day is Nov. 16 for the series that has opened several of the biggest midnight-debut movies.
For the "Twilight" finale, however, there are Nov. 15 shows beginning at 10 p.m. ahead of midnight showings.
Those who have attempted to leave the Cinemark Tulsa parking lot along with 3,000-plus people at 2:30 a.m. on a Friday morning know what I'm talking about regarding "Twilight" midnight mania.
Almost every theater in the Tulsa area has set 10 p.m. screenings for the Thursday night of Nov. 15, and there are already sold-out shows at multiple locations.
But don't worry: Cinemark Tulsa, for example, has already sold out four screenings in the 10 p.m. hour (and two "Twilight" marathons of all five movies for that day), but the bonus of digital projection is that it allows them to beam "Breaking Dawn Part 2" into all of their auditoriums for 10 p.m. screenings.
There are also midnight showings of the "Twilight" finale next Thursday, but the biggest fans -- and their parents -- don't have to stay out until 3 a.m. or so next Friday if desire an earlier bedtime.
