Cornerback Aaron Colvin returned for his senior year at Oklahoma to win some games, win some awards and put himself in prime ...
Keeping with the Big 12 vs. SEC theme of the week, I found something pretty cool from a year ago, when the two conferences ...
We're still more than a year and a half from the first College Football Playoff, and the first CFP selection committee, and ...
As watch lists go, the very first of the college football season is a good one to be on. It's for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, an honor bestowed on a player just as valuable off the field as on (IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity).
Oklahoma cornerback Demontre Hurst is among the 42 players on the initial list. Good for him. Good for the Sooners.
OU's secondary sort of lost its way the latter half of the 2011 season. Mike Stoops has arrived to make repairs, and while his moving Tony Jefferson to free safety is expected to pay the biggest dividends, he has to feel most secure about Hurst.
"Demontre and Tony are guys that really jump out at you," Stoops said toward the end of spring drills, "their consistency and their confidence they play with. Now we've got to continue to build from those guys."
A coach should be able to build around a senior who will be starting his third year. Hurst, with Jamell Fleming now an Arizona Cardinal, is OU's sturdiest pillar.
Does being nominated for an award guarantee that a guy is going to live up to his team's expectations? Course not. But I'd say it bodes well.
