The main attraction at Circle Cinema this weekend will be the debut of Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine," complete with the theater selling blue macaroon cookies (which are delicious) and jasmine tea.
But wait, there's more opening Friday: "In a World" is the funny, acclaimed comedy by actress Lake Bell about the movie-trailer voice-over community in Hollywood. Look for my interview with Bell in Thursday's Scene section, and my review of the movie in Friday's Scene, and watch a trailer for "In a World" below.
Even the trailer is hilarious.
Meanwhile, as the city's premier presenter of documentaries, Circle Cinema also opens "Blackfish," about the lives and treatment of orcas, this weekend as well.
"Blackfish" offers a value-added bonus following the 3:30 p.m. Saturday showing: a Skype with John Hargrove, one of the orca trainers featured in the film who worked at SeaWorld Texas and other venues.
Hargrove, via Skype, will talk about the film and answer questions from the Circle Cinema audience beginning immediately after the 3:30 p.m. screening, or about 5 p.m. Saturday.
Check out the trailer for "Blackfish" here as well.
