"We get asked all the time about what our favorite place to play is," Boland said in advance of last year's event.
"It's Cain's. It's as good as times get."
Boland, a former Stillwater musician, is acclaimed for his distinctive, hard-charging and rootsy brew of country and rock.
"(Cain's) is the house that Bob (Wills) built. I've always loved seeing live shows there, especially as a kid," he said.
His first concert at the historic venue was Joe Satriani.
"You just can't beat that. ... I've been up there more times than I can count. More than a dozen, less than a hundred," Boland said, then laughed.
In other words, a lot.
