Jefferson has labeled Saturday's game at Texas Tech as a 'must-win'

Tony Jefferson remembers the sick feeling from last year’s loss against visiting Texas Tech.

The Sooners – seemingly invincible at Memorial Stadium – saw its 39-game home-win streak evaporate after the 41-38 setback to the Red Raiders.

How difficult was absorbing that loss?

“Just losing in general and losing at home,” Jefferson said. “Being part of the team that broke that streak we had going at home messed with me too. Just losing isn’t good at all.”

Jefferson said Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. game at Texas Tech is a “must-win.”

“You always want to win,” he said. “This game has a little baggage on it. We know what they did to us last year at home. We know what we’re getting ourselves into.”

Jefferson has taken even more of a leadership role this week, he said, as he prepares for his first trip to Lubbock.

“I’m trying to get the guys motivated and pumped,” he said. “My guys are with me and I think we are all on the same page.”
