Jenks tailback Trey'Vonne Barr'e, the Tulsa World's 2012 state player of the year, has committed to play football at Iowa Western, the national champions in junior college football.

Barr'e, who is Jenks' career rushing leader, was headed to Central Oklahoma, but decided to pursue his dream of playing major college football by going the juco route.

"There are 60 to 70 major colleges that visit Iowa Western every year," Jenks running backs coach Brady Walz said on Friday. "They run a no-huddle offense and it's a real good fit for him."

Barre, who is 5-9 and 174 pounds, led Class 6A in rushing with 2,237 yards and 32 touchdowns to earn World and Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State honors as he helped the Trojans win the state title. In 2011, he had 2,110 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns.

Defensive lineman Ashton Henderson, a former Jenks teammate, also plays for Iowa Western, which is located in Council Bluffs.

Verbal commitments are not binding. Athletes may start signing on Wednesday.
