Figured you might want to know how Oklahoma's offensive coordinator is adjusting to the quarterback switch from Trevor Knight to Blake Bell, plus the return of Kendal Thompson from his broken foot.
Here's a sample of the Q and A with Josh Heupel after practice Tuesday…
How does Thompson look?
"Good. He's done a good job trying to keep his arm in shape. Once he was able to be in the boot and put pressure on it, he did a good job of throwing. Other than just having to get through his progressions and get the feel of the game, get the speed of it, he's doing good."
Are you being cautious with his foot?
"He's been doing really good. I don't think there have been any issues with him at this point. He's done a good job of rehabbing it."
Would you like to see Thompson get in against Tulsa Saturday?
"I'd like to see Blake play really well and us score a bunch of points."
Notice any difference in Bell's demeanor this week?
"Blake's played a bunch of football games. He's played in a bunch of big games. He's played in high-pressure situations. He's pretty confident as a football player. I expect he'll handle himself the right way and play on Saturday."
Is he throwing it well?
"Yeah. Through camp he really did. He has this week, too. I've said it for a long time. The package that we used him in didn't give him a chance. We had Landry Jones who's, I don't know what, third in the history of NCAA passing. It's tough to put the guy in there and drop back a bunch with him when you have Landry on the sidelines. Just the situation and who else was there didn't allow us to throw it a lot with him."
